QR Screen Scanner is a browser extension designed to detect and decode QR codes visible on your screen. Your privacy is important to us, and this policy outlines how we handle data within the extension.

 

2. Data Collection

This extension operates entirely on your device. It does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information, browsing activity, or QR scan history to any remote servers.

 

3. QR Code Processing

When a QR code is scanned:

  • The image is captured locally using the browser’s tab capture API.
  • Decoding and any parsing (e.g., TOTP parameters) is performed entirely within your browser.
  • The raw value may be temporarily stored in memory for display and copied to your clipboard if needed.

QR data never leaves your machine or browser context.

 

4. Permissions

QR Screen Scanner requires the following Chrome permissions:

  • activeTab: Allows the extension to access the currently visible tab for scanning.

These permissions are used solely to perform screen capture and QR decoding tasks.

 

5. Third-Party Services

This extension does not use any external APIs, analytics services, advertising networks, or cloud storage solutions. All code, including the QR decoding library (jsQR), is bundled locally.
